Date: 25th September, 2024- Partnering with Media on Mental Health Promotion

The PEMA Secretariat presented media guidelines to officials from the Bhutan Information Communication and Media Authority (BICMA) and various media houses to ensure responsible reporting on mental health. The session focused on an overview of The PEMA and its mandates, alongside the media’s role in shaping public understanding of mental health, suicide prevention, addiction and ethical considerations.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of child protection and its legal matters, and how accurate, compassionate reporting can encourage help-seeking behaviors and support those facing mental health challenges, while preventing unintended negative impacts. The program was graced by Dasho Dechen Wangmo, Head of The PEMA.
