28th May 2025: Empathy to Action: Educators as the Frontliners

The PEMA Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development completed the final leg of the ‘Mental Health in Schools’ workshop for the eastern region from May 26-28, 2025, in Mongar. A total of 76 participants comprising District Education Officers, Principals, School Counsellors, Wellbeing Focal Teachers from Lhuentse, Mongar, Tashigang and Tashiyangtse took part in the three-day
workshop.


Similar workshops for the western and eastern region were conducted earlier this month. The workshop has seen participation from a total of 400 educators across the country. The objectives of the workshop are to promote mental health and wellbeing in schools; streamline school-based substance use prevention and care; and build capacity of school leaders and counsellors in early identification and timely support.

This workshop is part of The PEMA Secretariat’s ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development in strengthening mental health support in schools.
