04th June 2025: Celebrating Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s Birth Anniversary

In keeping up with our cherished tradition to celebrate the joyous occasion of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s Birth Anniversary, a series of events were organized. The auspicious day started with the offering of butter lamp and prayers for longevity at the Changangkha, led by the Hon’ble Head of The PEMA Secretariat and the Hon’ble Board Members.
Subsequently, special celebrations were held at Kamji Central School in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. As an inclusive school serving 55 children with disabilities, the event brought together 166 participants comprising children with disabilities and their parents, District Education Officer, school principals, wellbeing focal teachers, and Inclusive Education Coordinators from across the Dzongkhag. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Dzongdag of Chukha Dzongkhag.
As part of our commitment to creating an enabling and supportive learning environment, inclusive classrooms and counselling rooms were refurbished, ensuring these spaces are fully equipped to support the wellbeing of learners. The celebration was further enriched through a comprehensive health and wellbeing screenings for all children with disabilities and their parents, in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
To mark the day, modest events were also held at the PEMA Rehab and the Department of Psychiatry, for individuals undergoing treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. Further, The PEMA Secretariat also supported the Royal Bhutan Police in relocating the children at the Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre to their new hostel, and provided 70 sets of handlooms to the female inmates in Chamgang Central Prison and Dawakha Open-Air Prison to promote weaving and livelihood opportunities.
On this special occasion, we join the nation in offering our heartfelt prayers and best wishes to Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen.
