A team of 26 Bhutanese mental health professionals leaves today for the ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ผ-๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru, India.
This program is a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between The Pema Secretariat and NIMHANS, established to build institutional capacities, provide technical support, and enhance the quality of mental health services in Bhutan.
During the visit, the participants will engage in structured observational learning, clinical exposures, and interactive knowledge-sharing sessions with leading specialists at NIMHANS.
The program covers key areas such as primary mental health care integration, community-based psychosocial support, crisis intervention, and advanced psychiatric care systems.
โPartnering with a premier institution in the region like NIMHANS is a significant step toward strengthening Bhutanโs mental health system,” Dasho Dechen Wangmo, HEAD of The PEMA Secretariat said. “The program will equip our frontline and other mental health professionals with advanced technical insights and practical experience, ultimately enhancing the level of compassionate and evidence-based care provided across the country.”
The program reflects the ongoing commitment of The Pema Secretariat and NIMHANS to foster long-term technical cooperation, continuous capacity building, and sustainable development in mental health and well-being.
